Book Meme

May 15, 2007

Yeah, another one that I got from here.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open it to page 161.
3. Find the fifth full sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.

“Given half the chance, she’d drown the Seventh Fleet.” – How to Read Literature Like a Professor

That was rather uneventful. That book wasnt’ actually the nearest to me, but it had to do because the one that was (Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis) doesn’t go up to 161. 🙂

I tried grabbed the Concise OED, but no luck – there wasn’t a full sentence anywhere on p. 161…

  2. Michael Culbertson Says:

“Before assigning this term [phrase group], however, study the music (especially the cadences) closely to see whether a passage might be analyzed as a variant of some period form.” Tonal Harmony, Stefan Kostka and Dorothy Payne.
